There isn't any excuse for drivers to not pay attention while they are driving. Even a single second of inattention can lead to a serious accident. A recent accident that occurred in Chicago has claimed the life of a cab driver, but the driver who caused the accident wasn't injured in the crash.
The female cab driver was in Hoffman Estates when the fatal accident happened along Interstate 90. Her cab was rear-ended by a sport utility vehicle. The cab exploded and caught on fire because of the impact of the crash. It was completely engulfed in flames. The 56-year-old cab driver was pronounced dead on the scene of the fatal accident.
This accident highlights how important it is for drivers to watch out for cabs in Chicago. These vehicles often have to stop to pick up customers or drop them off. While it isn't clear exactly what happened on the day this crash occurred, it is apparent that the impact was severe. Whether heavy traffic was a factor isn't clear from the report either, but that is another challenge that all drivers in Chicago may face.
The cab driver's family has to deal with knowing that she died in a horrible accident. They might be awaiting the completion of the investigation being done by the state police prior to deciding how to handle the woman's death. They may ultimately decide to pursue civil action against the driver of the SUV. If they do, any compensation awarded might help to minimize the financial strain the accident placed on the family.
