1 killed, 5 injured in Chicago speeding accident

Traffic laws are in place for a reason: to keep everyone safe. All it takes is just one driver’s negligence to lead to an accident with life-changing consequences for everyone else on the road.

This was highlighted in a recent accident caused by a speeding driver. The accident happened around 12:45 a.m. on Monday on the Southwest Side of Chicago.

The accident happened when a speeding vehicle hit a pedestrian in the 4200 block of South Cicero Avenue. After hitting the pedestrian, the same car hit three other vehicles. One of the drivers in the other vehicles was killed.

In total, five others were taken to area hospitals with injuries. After the crash, the driver who was speeding was in the hospital in police custody.

In looking at this accident, the five who were injured are described as having non life-threatening injuries. However, when reading this, keep in mind the injuries can still be quite severe and life-changing, even when the injured are expected to survive.

When it comes to car accident injuries, the injuries can really range, including broken bones, head injuries and paralysis. However, in some cases, while an injury may not seem severe at first, it can continue to cause pain and discomfort for some time to come.

This is why it is important to reach out to a personal injury attorney after an accident in Chicago. This attorney can work with experts and litigate with insurers in order to make a case for why an injured person should receive compensation.
